OFFICERS OF THE EAST VALLEY MARINES
The following are the current elected officers and appointed members of Detachment #1296, of the United States Marine Corps League.

  COMMANDANT
JOHN VAN HOUTEN
USMC, 1966 - 1970
John served in Marine Air and is a Vietnam veteran. He then spent 30 years with the Gillette Company in Sales & Marketing positions, with both national and international assignments.
     
  SENIOR VICE COMMANDANT
JIM HARKINS
USMC, 1956 - 1980
With the exception of his last assignment as a Recruiter, Jim spent his career in Aviation, serving with fighter squadrons in all 4 Air Wings.  After retirement he worked in the semiconductor equipment  and consumer electronics manufacturing industries.
     
JUNIOR VICE COMMANDANT
JERRY FARRO
USMC, 1964 – 1994
Jerry served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Vietnam, then retired as Colonel with USMCR serving with the corps' world staff, FMFLAMT. He has been president of two specialty electronics chemical companies.
     
  JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL (JAG)
BOB GREENE
USMC, 1953 - 1956
Bob served in Korea as an air traffic controller with an observation squadron. After his service, he worked with the FAA for 34 years. Following that, he taught air traffic control in China for 3 years.

SHARON JACKLEY
ASSOCIATE
Sharon is presently the secretary for the Valley Friends of Arizona Opera, a support organization. Her past career path had her as secretary in various industries, many of which supported military operations.

MIKE BISHOP
USMC, 1969 - 1971
Mike was the office manager for the Commanding General of Camp Pendleton and had the pleasure of working with the finest officers ever gathered under one roof--real heroes. .
     
  SERGEANT AT ARMS
DICK HAFFNER
USMC, 1960 - 1964, USMCR 1956-1959
Dick served with Marine Air Groups 13 and 24 as a Avionics Technician. In 2001 he retired from Los Alamos National Lab.
     
  CHAPLAIN, MARINE FOR LIFE COORDINATOR
DAVE LOTT
USMC, 1965 - 1971
Dave served with the 1st & 3rd Recon units in Vietnam.  He then pursued a career in law enforcement. He is also currently an Aide de Camp for the Department of Arizona's Marine Corps League.
     
  LEGISLATION
LEW BRADLEY
USMC 1950 - 1954
Lew volunteered to go to Korea in 1952. He replaced a helicopter chief and provided all the maintenance. He then flew on every mission including search and rescue of downed pilots.
     
  COMMUNICATIONS
RON BAIER
USMC, 1980 – 1988
Starting as an aircraft electrician in the Corps, Ron next worked with an aircraft component company as mechanical designer & project manager. At 45, Ron left all that, going back to his love of flying. He is a fully certified helicopter commercial pilot and flight instructor.
